The Ruffin Organic Garden

Dawson is proud to have one of the largest organic school gardens in Las Vegas.

With approximately 2,113 square feet of vegetable, fruit and herb growing space, and an estimated yearly harvest of over 10,000 pounds of produce, the Richard & Malena Ruffin Organic Garden is the largest school garden in the Las Vegas valley. The Ruffin Garden's true value lies in its ability to serve as an inspirational, hands-on experiential learning space for Dawson students to learn about the importance of garden-based nutrition, the science of planting and farming, and to cultivate an appreciation for environmental stewardship and sustainability. In addition, Dawson chefs visit the garden daily to select fresh produce to prepare and serve in the Dining Hall. This innovative garden and outdoor learning space was made possible through the generosity of Phil and Oleksandra Ruffin and directly reflects their family's passion for healthy living and nutrition.
