Maria was raised in Rhode Island, where she graduated from Rhode Island College and received a bachelor's degree in psychology and an early childhood certification. She has over 15 years of experience working in private pre-schools, nine of which were at the pre-kindergarten level. Maria also worked as a substitute teacher in the public school system for four years. Before moving to Las Vegas in 2008, she worked as a nanny to an infant and a toddler.

The Alexander Dawson School

The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain, an independent school located on 33-acres in the community of Summerlin, is Nevada’s first Stanford University Challenge Success partner school for students in early childhood through grade eight.
