Dawson Students Once Again Score High on American Math Awards! (2018)

We are proud to acknowledge the following students for their outstanding placement in the American Math Competition 8 Awards (AMC).  The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics. Students apply classroom-learned skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress environment. Possible topics on an AMC 8 test include but are not limited to: Probability, Estimation, Percents, Elementary geometry including the Pythagorean Theorem, Spatial Visualization, Everyday Applications, and Reading/Interpreting Graphs.

The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain, an independent school located on 33-acres in the community of Summerlin, is Nevada’s first Stanford University Challenge Success partner school for students in early childhood through grade eight.
