Dawson Spotlight: Lily Monares

Have you met Ms. Lily Monares yet? Lily is originally from Las Vegas and has worked with children since 2017. She is currently studying early childhood education and volunteers at The Animal Foundation. This is her first year working at Dawson in Early Childhood and also coaches volleyball! You can learn more about her in this edition of the #DawsonSpotlight.
How long have you been a teacher?
This is my first year being a teacher but I have worked with children and been a part of developing young minds for about five years now.

What inspired you to become a teacher?
I’ve been working with kids since I was one! I’ve always just loved working with children but never really thought of it as a career. That was until I worked other jobs and realized that I was my happiest when I was doing something I loved. I think just seeing the smallest impacts I can make in anyone's development is very rewarding to me.

What’s your favorite thing about teaching at Dawson?
I haven’t been here for long, but I can truly say it’s the community Dawson has. At times, it’s hard for me to adjust to a new environment and I just get anxious when it comes to a new job but it has just been such a welcoming/supportive experience working here. I can also tell that everyone is so passionate about what they do and it’s all for the kids.

What does our throughline, Level Up, mean to you?

Leveling up for me, as a current student and fairly new teacher, means learning and developing my skills just as the children do. This is such a new experience to me that I am trying to absorb all these new teaching techniques.

Thank you for sitting in the spotlight, Lily!
