How long have you worked at Dawson?
This is my sixth year working at Dawson.

What inspired you to become an educator?
I always wanted to be a teacher even as a young child.  My mom was always coming up with fun projects and different ways to keep me and my siblings learning at home and I wanted to be able to do the same and follow in her footsteps.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Dawson?
My favorite thing about Dawson is the people - we have incredible kids that I get to work with, and inspirational colleagues that I get to learn from. It has become my home away from home.

What is one thing about you that would surprise students?
One thing that might surprise my students is that I lived in New Zealand for 6 months when I was in my 20s. I did my student teaching there. While there, I went cave crawling, fishing for eel, and I abseiled down a cliff - those three things alone would definitely surprise them.

What helps you feel strong?
Having support from friends and family around me helps me to feel strong.

What does Stronger Together mean to you?
Stronger together means success to me. This is the way that I can get better and do more - by having others to collaborate and work with. I may have one idea, but together we have many.

What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of getting over my fear of talking in front of others. That stifled me for so, so long and started at a very young age. Now, I feel confident speaking in front of large groups. Getting over that fear has allowed me the opportunity to speak in front of large groups of teachers as I conduct professional learning sessions whether that be locally or across the nation.

Thank you for sitting in the spotlight, Lindee!
