How long have you been a teacher?
This is my 13th year teaching.

What inspired you to become a teacher?
I love watching kids grow and learn through their inquiry. I always worked with kids and come from a large family in Southern California. I nannied through college and learned quickly what a rewarding experience it is to work with children.

What’s your favorite thing about teaching at Dawson?
Dawson is great at meeting the needs of all students academically and emotionally. Giving students voice and choice in their learning is something that I am passionate about and Dawson really focuses on the needs of each individual student. I toured here as a parent last fall and loved it so much, I applied in the spring!

What is one thing about you that would surprise students?
I’ve lived in Vegas my whole life and even married my high school sweetheart!

What helps you feel strong?
Having a strong support team helps me feel strong.

How will you help make Dawson Stronger Together?
I can help make Dawson stronger together by being a contributing member of this community. I hope to build strong connections with staff and families so they look to me for support and guidance when needed.

What are you most proud of?
My two beautiful and smart little girls and my career as an educator.

Do you have any career highlights that you’d like to note and share with our community?
I've worked as an intervention coordinator to help struggling readers. I also worked as a Read By 3 instructional strategist in which I trained staff on research-based literacy practices. My passion is outdoor education and I worked as a garden coordinator for my past school in which we implemented outdoor curriculum.
