Kristi is a 24-year master teacher. She graduated with high honors from Michigan State University with a B.A. in French and education. She went on to receive her master’s degree in Spanish education through the University of Southern Mississippi and Centro Mexicano Internacional in Morelia, Mexico. After teaching for nine years in the public schools in Michigan and in Clark County, Kristi joined the Dawson staff when the Middle School opened. Throughout her career, Kristi has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching. Most notably, she was honored with the Michigan Foreign Language Teacher of the Year, Rainbow Recognition Award for Multicultural Education, Summerlin Children’s Forum Award, and Professeur du Lauréat from the the American Association of Teachers of French. She has also traveled extensively to France, Quebec, Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina and Uruguay, and she has taken students on several exchange programs and educational trips. Kristi has been instrumental in forming Dawson’s World Language program and recently completed extensive training to achieve the designation of an AIM Certified Teacher from AIM (Accelerated Integrated Method) Language Learning in Canada. Kristi enjoys reading, foreign films, Latin music, Zumba, yoga and spending time with her husband and two boys, Charlie and Isaac.
