Born in Mexico City, Mrs. Lopez moved to Carson City, Nevada, at the age of six. In 2001, she left a career in travel and tourism to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming an educator. In 2004, she moved to Las Vegas to attend Nevada State College where she received her B.A. with honors in elementary education with a concentration in bilingual education. Later she attended Concordia University, where she graduated with an M.Ed. in educational leadership.
 
She joined the Dawson community in 2015 and has been an active member in helping students develop the skills that will ensure a strong educational foundation and prepare them to be lifelong learners. Her love for learning was evident when she attended the People of Color Conference, led sessions during Teacher Academy, attended several curriculum workshops along with the PBL World Conference, and served as a DEI Ambassador.
 
She is married with two children, ages 25 and 28. She is a lover of the vintage/retro style and enjoys trying out different hairstyles and outfits. During the summer months, she often travels to visit family and friends, making sure to stop by National Parks along the way.

The Alexander Dawson School

The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain, an independent school located on 33-acres in the community of Summerlin, is Nevada’s first Stanford University Challenge Success partner school for students in early childhood through grade eight. Utilizing the unique Challenge Success framework, Dawson uses research-based strategies and programs that emphasize student academics, wellbeing, and a healthy school-life balance to create more engaged, motivated, and resilient learners and leaders. At Dawson, students achieve their individual potential while savoring life and meeting the challenges of the world.
