Kelly has been teaching for more than a quarter of a century in subjects such as gifted education, science lab, dance, elementary and middle school science, social studies, and engineering, as well as university undergrads and grad students preparing to become teachers.  Kelly has a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Howard University, a Master of Arts in curriculum and instruction from UMKC, and a Ph.D. in teaching and learning from American University. When not working, Kelly enjoys cooking and baking, going to the movies with her husband, Cal, and spending time with her fur baby, Johnnie.

The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain, an independent school located on 33-acres in the community of Summerlin, is Nevada’s first Stanford University Challenge Success partner school for students in early childhood through grade eight.
