Introducing Dr. Brandon Wiley, Dawson's New Director of Teaching & Learning

After an extensive and thorough nation-wide search of several prestigious candidates, The Alexander Dawson School is pleased to announce the hiring of a new director of teaching and learning as a member of our leadership team.
Dr. Brandon Wiley is an accomplished educator who holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from State University of New York College at Fredonia, as well as a doctoral degree in educational and organizational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. He spent years in the classroom as a teacher before taking on larger roles that included work in curriculum, instruction, and staff development within academic institutions on a national level. Most recently, Dr. Wiley served as chief program officer for the Buck Institute for Education in Novato, California, overseeing program areas that included strategic partnerships and professional development services for teachers, as well as innovative project-based learning initiatives for students.

“Classrooms today need to empower students by providing them opportunities to express their voice, develop agency, know themselves as learners, and to advocate for their own needs,” says Dr. Wiley. “In an ever-changing, sometimes volatile world, it’s incumbent upon schools to prepare students to be active, participating members of a global society. Their ability to problem-solve, think creatively, and apply knowledge to novel situations will be what sets them apart in college, career, and life.”

We are excited about how Dr. Wiley's immeasurable knowledge and skills will continue to support Dawson’s upward momentum as a premier modern learning institution on a global scale. Please join me in welcoming him to our amazing community.
