Michael received an Associate of Art degree from San Joaquin Delta College and a B.A. in sociology from California State University at Stanislaus. He also completed the Teacher Education Program in health and physical education at Sierra Nevada College. Michael has been in education for over 20 years, with more than 15 years at The Alexander Dawson School. During his tenure on campus, he has held positions such as athletic director, health and fitness instructor, summer camp director, advisor, and coach. He has a wealth of coaching experience at several different levels in football, basketball, and tennis. For six summers, Michael coached summer collegiate baseball teams in places such as Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada, Kansas and California. Michael also held front office positions in the Montreal Expos and Miami Marlins scouting departments.

The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain, an independent school located on 33-acres in the community of Summerlin, is Nevada’s first Stanford University Challenge Success partner school for students in early childhood through grade eight. Utilizing the unique Challenge Success framework, Dawson uses research-based strategies and programs that emphasize student academics, wellbeing, and a healthy school-life balance to create more engaged, motivated, and resilient learners and leaders.
