Laura Ben-Shimon received her Masters in Arts and Teaching (MAT) from National Louis University and her Bachelor of Art from Brown University.  She taught in both private and public schools in Chicago before moving to Las Vegas. She also spent time at the Rhode Island School of Design studying film and photography.  Mrs. Ben-Shimon was Dawson's original third grade teacher.  She then taught preschool the first year that the preschool opened. After that, she decided to stay home to raise her children.  She missed being in the classroom and now returns to Dawson as a first-grade teacher.  As an avid traveller, Mrs. Ben-Shimon has been to Peru, Bolivia, Equador, Venezuala, Mexico, China, Vietnam, The Philippines, Thailand, Burma, Laos, Israel, France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Norway, London, Switzerland, Turkey, Greece, Costa Rica and most of the USA.  In her spare time,  Mrs. Ben-Shimon loves being with her husband, four daughters and two dogs. She likes camping, hiking and trying new foods.  She also practices yoga daily. She is thrilled to be following her passion for creating lifelong learners!
