With approximately 2,113 square feet of vegetable, fruit, and herb growing space, and an estimated annual harvest of nearly 1,000 pounds of produce, the Richard & Malena Ruffin Organic Garden is the largest school garden in the Las Vegas Valley.

About the Garden

The Ruffin Organic Garden's true value lies in its ability to serve as an inspirational, hands-on, experiential learning space where Dawson students learn about the importance of garden-based nutrition, the science of planting and gardening, and cultivate an appreciation for environmental stewardship and sustainability. In addition, Dawson chefs visit the Garden daily to select fresh produce to prepare and serve in the Dining Hall.

Dawson's innovative Garden and outdoor learning space was made possible through the generosity of Phil and Oleksandra Ruffin and reflects their family's passion for healthy living and nutrition.
