Project Based Learning (PBL) is not an add-on at Dawson.

Through PBL, our students learn course content (skills, knowledge, dispositions, and understanding) through engagement in longer-term, real-world, meaningful projects. Our teachers are trained in the PBLWorks Gold Standard PBL model and are encouraged to embed projects in their curriculum that allow students to apply their learning in purposeful ways.

The Alexander Dawson School is deeply committed to Project Based Learning and is excited to share some of its standout work during the Institute. In addition to engaging workshops led by PBLWorks National Faculty, participants will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful campus and experience a PBL Gallery Walk, showcasing both completed and in-progress student projects.

What Happens in Vegas, Leaves Vegas

Dawson is a professional development hub that shares our educational expertise with educators locally, nationally, and globally.

Dawson faculty participated in the three-day PBL 101 workshops with PBLWorks and many attended the PBL World Conference in Napa, California to deepen their understanding.

In 2023, Dawson partnered with Sara Lev, Erin Starkey, and Amanda Clarke, authors of Implementing Project Based Learning in Early Childhood, to host the first ECPBL Conference on our campus.
