Annual Fund FAQs
What is the Annual Fund and why is it important?
The Annual Fund is the most important source of unrestricted funds available to the school. Part of the School’s operating budget, the Annual Fund provides vital revenue that helps make the Dawson experience unique. Monies from the Annual Fund help maintain the daily operations of Dawson, supporting curriculum enhancements in the arts, athletics, and technology. The Annual Fund also supports study skills, professional development for our teachers, core class enhancements, and tuition assistance.
Why should I support the Annual Fund?
By supporting Dawson through the Annual Fund, you are investing in the people and programs that make Dawson one of the premier independent schools in the West. You are helping to enrich and enhance our programs beyond what is possible through tuition alone. Per student, tuition fees cover approximately 70% of the cost of a Dawson education. Fundraising efforts like the Annual Fund help us keep tuition affordable for more families. And, unlike tuition, your donations to the Dawson Annual Fund are tax deductible as allowed by law.
How much should I contribute?
We know everyone’s budget is different. While we have suggested giving levels (see below), we hope that you will choose a gift that is significant and meaningful to you and your family, at whatever level makes the most sense for your personal budget. You can make a secure online donation here.

What is the difference between the Annual Fund and the fundraising activities of the Parent Association?
Parent Association fundraising events promote community spirit and provide social opportunities for parents while raising substantial funds for more specific projects. The Annual Fund provides unrestricted gifts to the school, while Parent Association fundraising proceeds generally go towards specific projects.
