Dawson Yearbook Students Win Top Honors

The Alexander Dawson School is proud to announce our 2015-16 yearbook titled “Continuing the Tradition” was the winner of multiple awards from the Southern Nevada Society of Journalists (SNSJ) at their fifth annual Journalism Contest ceremony.  This is the second year in a row that the work of our Dawson yearbook team has been honored by SNSJ.

Out of more than 800 entries from both middle and high schools from around the Valley, Dawson’s yearbook team, led by eighth-grade English teacher Jolie Lindley, won a total of 16 awards in 10 categories, including eight “Superior” awards – the highest achievable honor.

"This was the fifth year for the Society of Nevada Student Journalists awards, and each year, more and more Las Vegas schools enter the contest,” said Ms. Lindley. “I am so proud of our students for not only winning 16 awards but having half of those be 'Superior' ratings, the highest honor a student could obtain. This shows a commitment to excellence in journalism and a focus on providing the best quality of publication for our student body that truly reflects the Dawson Difference and what it means to be a Dawson student."
