Dawson Students Win National French Competition Awards
The Alexander Dawson School is very proud to announce that our seventh and eighth-grade French students took this year’s National French Exam, Le Grand Concours – and for the first time ever, our sixth-grade French students also took the test – and the results are in!
The sixth and seventh-grade students took a level 01 test along with 5,549 students from across the country. Three of our students scored a medal, and two earned an honorable mention. Seventh-grader Alex Robertson scored a gold medal, and ranked 1st in the state of Nevada and 7th in the country. Seventh-grader Avery Clarke and sixth-grader Lydia Costantian both scored a bronze medal, ranking 2nd in Nevada and 14th in the country.
The eighth-grade students took the French level 1 test, which is typically given to French I students in high school, along with 23,863 students from across the country. We are happy to announce that four of our students scored medals and nine students earned honorable mention. Eighth-graders Makenna Bear and Ian Walton scored silver medals and ranked 5th in Nevada and 9th in the country. Eighth-graders Tanner Rubeli and Selin Aydin scored bronze medals and ranked 8th and 10th in Nevada, and 12th and 14th in the country, respectively.
Le Grand Concours is the national annual French competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF). The mission of the AATF is to advance the study of the French language, literature, and culture both in schools and in the general public.
